The Weekly Snivel

"Snivel", by the way, is pronounced in the Classic British, with a Long 'I'

Well! Ain't this been a hoot! Finally have Health Insurance so, last Mondy I went for much needed new glasses. I decided to forgo Walmart ant give my business to a local ........

On Mondy, I wrote the biggest check I had written in over 4 years! Today, I went to pick up the new specs and was met with a little sign on the door: "Closed until next Wednesdy!"

I reckon that check must have covered the monthly payment on the condo in St. Croix!

Later on Mondy, during the night, I awoke with a start......I could not breath. I sat up all night, forcing my breath in, forcing it out.......made an appointment with the Doc for today.

I also quit smoking that night......2 AM, June 26, 2006.

Well, I didn't git any good news at the Doc's! I gained 15 pounds since my last visit, a year back! My Blood Oxygen had dropped into the "No-No" Range and, once Doc, himself, checked me out, he sent me to the Horse Piddle for a chest X-Ray! Meanwhile, he 'scribed an expensive "Inhaler" for me.The Insurance brought the cost of the Inhaler down from $120 to $25 but the stress lies in the wait, until next Wednesdy Morn, when I have an appointment to discuss the X-Rays.

All I can say at this point is that God, last Mondy, sent me a "Severe Wake-Up Call" or I MISSED the "Severe Wake-Up Call" previously......

I cain't change the past. Only the Future.....and, even then, only to a minor extent, maybe......

Whatever does happen, some good will come of it. This I know! That be how the Creator works! All is a part of His Plan.

To top all that off, some fool stole a couple of thangs from my front porch, too! Nothing expensive! Not the point, eh?

Maybe the thief will trip on the $8, 10-foot hose and fall on the $12 square-tip shovel, causing massive bleeding and, possibly, life-threatening infection. Who knows? Not me!

I certainly do NOT wish any of this on the "perp"......I used to have a nice collection of yard tools, rakes, picks, shovels, garden rakes, etc., that all, here at the Resort, were able to borrow without even asking! Then, one day, 1-2 years back, all of it was gone. These are just "thangs"! The Perp and the Creator can work it all out.........if I were a betting man I'd put my money on the Creator, tho!

Well, I done ran out of "Snivel" for today so I leave you with the pic what is probably way up top of this post........a pic of the Stevens Ranch, a real, working cattle company, here in the upper Gila River Valley, Arizona! One of the Owners is a good Friend of mine and, occassionally, I accompany him out to the ranch and try to stay out of the way as he goes about his 24/7 duties, with 10 days off every December, for the National Finals in Vegas.....

Well, Norm!, your weekly "snivel" nearly brought tears to my eyes. I sincerely hope that everything turns out ok and that your wake up call was just to shake you up and get you moving - not to stop you. I feel like you are one of my best friends, someone I can disagree with and still want to talk to, someone I can agree to disagree with. I like talkin' to ya and learnin' about cha all the time. Hope you are well and know that you'll be in our thoughts and prayers.
