YES on Proposition 206 !
Please vote in September, 2006 and Please inform yourselves of just what you are voting For or Against!
As things now stand, due to a basic flaw in our System, the multi-millions of Maricopa County, Arizona have complete legal power over all of Rural Arizona, able to dictate the laws and traditions of small communities throughout the State, places most of them will never visit, places most of them never heard of.....
Restrictions on tobacco use is but one of the areas where the Goliath, under the alias of Proposition 201, seeks to snuff out yet more Freedom of the Property Owner in his/her treatment of a perfectly legal activity....Tobacco Use!
Frankly, we, here at the Norm Johnson Foundation For The Betterment Of Norm Johnson, would support, or, at least, not resist, a TOTAL Ban on the Manufacturing, Possession, Sale & Use of all Tobacco Products! That would be easier to stomach than the "pick & choose" angle adopted by the Supporters of Prop 201!
To Issue a Blanket Ruling that makes it a crime for a business-owner to allow legal activity in his or her place of business, Private Property, is, in a word, WRONG!
But, the Day, like Death and Texas, is coming and I doubt anyone can stem the tide.......
So, I chose to support the lesser of Two Evils by my support of Proposition 206 and my Firm Opposition to Prop 201!
Prop 206 will allow Tobacco Use in Bars, Taverns, Lounges, Saloons, etc., using fairly restrictive rulings as to who qualifies and, as I understand it, would totally ban children, no matter the circumstance, from being in such places.....
Personally, I strongly resent the ability of the masses, hundreds of miles away, to dictate to me and to force me to chose the Lesser of Two Evils!
But! Since I know that this Battle for Freedom will, eventually be lost, all I have left, all WE have left, is Resistance! The ability to Slow the Forces of Fascism!
Extend the problem, if you will, to other, more mundane activities! Totally Legal to consume Red Meat.....but NOT on Earth! Reality Checks tell me that these radical changes can certainly occur, just as they did in Europe, in the 1930s & 1940s!
The time has come for our "Government Representatives" to either Defecate or Git Off The Stool!
But, that won't happen, under current conditions, because Tobacco raises too much Government Revenue to outright outlaw it.....yet Laws such as these raise too much Revenue for the Lawyers & Lobbyists to abandon the concept, also! Not to mention the granting of smug self-righteousness to the rank-and-file Morloks in their quest of power over the bucolic Eloi....
And We, The People, while steadily losing our Rights, Left & Right, fund the Enrichment of Both Sides at the detriment of ourselves.....
I wish I could, herein, invoke the words "Fairness" & "Justice" but those words have long been lost! We are left with but one word....
"Resistance"!
"No" on Prop 201 !
"Yes" on Prop 206 !
