A Tribute.......
...to a Friend who passed on today....he packed a grongo name for the last 45 years but he wa the epitome of, the seminal Hispanich Name in American Music! And, he was a Friend!
Freddie Fender passed on today, October 15, 2006.
It had been about 8 years since I had seen "Freddie", down in Yuma, where we had breakfast and coffee together.....he looked healthy enough to draw a comment from me regarding his svelte look! I mean, he was 10-12 years older than me and looked thin & trim!
I recall taking my nearly-two-year-od daughter to a "Freddy" Concert, Phoenix Memorial Colosium, 1974.... She had n idea how close we were at the time, she was only barely 2! My daughter, at the time, tagged Bar....Freddie, with the name "Freddie Finger" and, within our Family, the name has stuck!
"Freddie", Lord Bless You, My Friend! I will be looking forward to your Music when I reach the Gate!
